Course outline
This session will look at the changes to Keeping Children Safe in Education for 2021 and will highlight the management and compliance implications. Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021 was released on July 06, and comes in to effect from September 01, 2021. KCSIE is for all practitioners in schools as well as governing bodies, proprietors and management committees. As such, this webinar will highlight the changes published in KCSIE 2021 throughout, from Part 1 (for all staff) and beyond, covering the management of safeguarding, safer recruitment, allegations and safeguarding concerns, child-on-child sexual violence and sexual harassment.
The webinar will also consider the updates published within the Sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges too, which has been updated in line with KCSIE 2021 and also come in to effect from September 01, 2021.

 

Training topics will include:

  • Changes to KCSIE
  • Changes to Sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges guidance
  • Impact on policies and procedures
  • Impact on professional practice.

 

Learning outcomes:

  • Awareness of the new guidance
  • How to update school policies and procedures to reflect the new guidance
  • Understanding issues relating to implementation and dissemination to school staff.

  • All practitioners working with children and young people, DSL, DDSL, in education settings in England.

Speaker: Dale Wilkins, Director of Safeguarding, Sacpa
Dale Wilkins spent 31 years working in schools, mainly in residential education, of which eleven years were as safeguarding lead. He has also had safeguarding responsibilities in youth group, sports and church settings, was a multi-agency safeguarding trainer for Dudley Safeguarding Children Board and has completed an extensive “Train the Trainer” course with NSPCC.
