Supporting Students Through Pressure and Change #ad

Posted: 11th May 2026

Speaking recently at the HEIDA Annual Health & Wellbeing Conference concerns were raised regarding modern students not having the skills to face a wide range of pressures; from academic expectations and social media influences, to future career uncertainty and personal challenges.

Boarding schools have always played an important role in helping young people develop independence and resilience, but how do they implement a system easily, and one that students can without difficulty apply in everyday life to achieve all concerns?

Simply put, a school (and it’s parents) have three key goals — helping students achieve their goals, preventing mental health problems and suicide prevention.

Boarding schools are uniquely positioned to achieve these three outcomes because they influence so many aspects of students’ daily lives. Increasingly, schools are seeking proactive ways to strengthen resilience and emotional wellbeing before difficulties escalate.

Programmes such as VIPMind® training build on this tradition by providing structured, practical education that students can apply in everyday life. Students are encouraged to recognise the impact of their mind on their actions, relationships and wellbeing. They also learn practical strategies that can help them manage pressure more effectively during periods of change, or uncertainty.

VIPMind® training supports students through pressure and change. In just three hours, students can gain foundational mind skills designed to improve confidence, self-awareness and emotional resilience.

Schools can further strengthen their support systems by training an in-house VIPMind® trainer within three months. This creates continuity and allows the programme to become integrated into pastoral care and wider school life.

As conversations around student wellbeing continue to evolve, schools that prioritise prevention and resilience-building are helping students gain important tools for both present and future challenges.
