According to a new report from the Child Poverty Action Group, about one in six secondary school students in the UK have missed classes because their families couldn’t afford it.
Around one in four pupils who receive free school meals miss school due to financial difficulties. Campaigners are urging the UK government to scrap the two-child limit and benefit cap, and are calling for free public transport for young people across the UK, as already provided in Scotland.
