AFRUCA – Safeguarding Children is an award winning national charity promoting the safeguarding and well-being of children in Black and Ethnic communities.
These positions will suit social workers with a strong interest in the cultural aspects of social work practice. A core part of the role includes conducting cultural assessments and providing bespoke one to one support for families within the Child Protection system to enable them strengthen their parenting capacities and improve protection and safety for children in the family setting.
You will work with families to build trusting relationships and support change where necessary. You will work within the team to implement continuous improvements to strengthen our service. You would also be working with a team who are committed to working in a person-centred way and achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
We are especially looking to recruit social workers from South Asian and other ethnic backgrounds as these families are increasingly represented on our caseload.
Job Summary
Job title: Social Worker – Child Protection, Assessment and Family Support Service (2 positions)
Location: AFRUCA Head Office, London and AFRUCA Centre for Children and Families, Manchester
Salary: £35,000 per annum subject to deductions for tax and national insurance contributions as required by law, plus £2,500 London Weighting for the London post only
Hours: 36 hours per week (5 days per week, with flexible and remote working opportunities)
Reporting to: AFRUCA Senior Social Worker
