An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Operational Lead for Safeguarding Adults and Children working within the Central Nursing Directorate at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Working closely with the Head of Safeguarding Children, Young people and Adults, the Operational Lead will be a key member of the Central Nursing team, working with all other Directorates across the Trust in the protection of adults and children at risk , offering training and support to staff to identify safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate pathways for referral to other agencies.

Where appropriate you will represent the Trust at multi agency meetings both locally and regionally, and at the relevant sub groups of the Sheffield Adult Safeguarding Partnership.

About us

The Safeguarding Team sits within the Central Nursing Directorate of the Chief Nurse, with responsibility for embedding safeguarding knowledge and practice across all areas of the Trust.

The safeguarding adults and children Named Professionals are co-located with the MCA/DoLS Specialist Adviser and the Registered Nurse for Children and Young People.

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate must be a highly motivated, experienced health or social care professional with an good working knowledge of safeguarding adults and children, with a sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies and practice, and experience of multi-agency working. The successful candidate will have experience of line management and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management and day to day operational function of the Safeguarding Team, supporting the Named Professionals and Safeguarding Adviser, offering expert advice and support to all levels of healthcare staff employed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and multi-agency staff as required.

The post holder will require excellent written, verbal and IT communication skills, be able to produce high quality reports and should be keen to learn and take on new challenges.

You will need to demonstrate leadership and be committed to providing high standards of safe, effective and compassionate care.

There may be a requirement to participate in the Trust’s out of hours leadership arrangements.
