An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Band 6 School Nurse or Band 5 Trainee School Nurse to work within the Health & Social Care Moray School Nursing Service in Elgin.

If you are a dynamic, creative and innovative nurse who wants to improve the health and wellbeing of our children and young people and would like to be part of the transformation of School Nursing this is an ideal opportunity for you.

Post: 37.5 hours based in Elgin locality – Part time hours will also be considered

Travel within Moray may be required to meet the needs of the service.

To be employed at Band 6 you must be a registered nurse on the NMC Register and hold a post-registration qualification in School Nursing/Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing.

To be employed as a Band 5 post you must be a Registered Nurse or Midwife.

If employed as a Band 5 the successful applicants will be expected to commence a 2 year part time education programme at the Robert Gordon University in the future. The course is at Masters Level, therefore a first degree is desirable or evidence of recent academic study at level 9 is essential. You will be based in a multidisciplinary team to allow the development of theory and practice in relation to the role of the School Nurse. On successful completion of the training programme and registration on part 3 of the NMC register employment will then be made at Agenda for Change Band 6 level.

It is a requirement of the course to complete 2 clinical placements, the first is for 10 weeks and the second is for 13 weeks. It is essential that you are available to undertake these full time placements to accrue the required clinical hours as stipulated by the NMC. Therefore all annual leave must be taken out with clinical practice placement times.

The successful applicant will be notified shortly after interview to enable the recruitment process to progress.
