About this role

At YoungMinds, we are leading the fight to make sure that all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.

As Safeguarding Officer, you will play a key part in helping to promote the safety and wellbeing of everyone who comes into contact with YoungMinds – whether that’s via our activist programme, our campaigns, individual and corporate fundraising, our parents helpline, social media, training and service design work or any of the charity’s other activities.

This role engages with colleagues across the organisation, at all levels, and will give you the opportunity to contribute to our ‘culture of care’ approach to safeguarding.

In conjunction with the Safeguarding Manager, you will raise and maintain safeguarding awareness throughout the organisation, guided by the priorities highlighted in the safeguarding action plan.

You will give support and advice to colleagues regarding appropriate safeguarding actions; taking responsibility for making referrals to statutory agencies where required.

About you

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • experience of providing safeguarding support to professionals working with children and adults
  • experience of administration and systems management
  • an ability to confidently assess risk and make time sensitive decisions
  • an ability to deliver safeguarding training and advice to all levels within the organisation
  • good organisational skills and ability to demonstrate a flexible and positive approach
  • strong knowledge of current safeguarding and child/adult protection legislation, guidance and thresholds

We welcome applications from Black and Minoritised and LGBTQ+ groups as they are currently under-represented.

We hope that you would like to join us at a very exciting stage of our growth and development. You’ll be joining a bright, dynamic team who have a passion for supporting our ambitions.

And what’s better than enjoying your work in beautiful surroundings and within our offices which are just a stone’s throw from the historic Tower Bridge!
