About the role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Safeguarding Coordinator to join our dedicated Student Services Team.  In this role, you will ensure the provision of a professional, high quality, effective, and efficient learning experience to students with Education & Health Care Plans in the Further Education programmes and support, safeguard, enable, and champion the success of all students by providing front line and responsive advice, guidance, and referral to other services within and beyond the Student Services Team.

This role will involve developing positive and constructive relationships with students, to enhance their personal and social education and enable them to thrive at the FRA and beyond. You will be a key member of the safeguarding team, acting as a DSL, attending professionals’ meetings, and considering actions for individual cases.  You will work proactively with students to overcome barriers to their progression; signpost to and enable them to access high quality support; and provide front line proactive and reactive pastoral support. This is a very diverse role, where you will work within a busy environment and liaise with lots of different staff and stakeholders with the student at the heart of the role.

This post is part of the Student Services team and the wider learning support and safeguarding teams, the post holder will be first aid trained, DSL trained, and be prepared for receiving and managing disclosures in line with the FRA Safeguarding Policy, as well as ongoing safeguarding intervention and support.

About you 

  • We are looking for someone who is passionate about students achieving their potential and putting the facilities and support in place to make sure we prepare our students not only for life at the FRA but the world beyond.
  • You should be a positive individual with a focus on building and developing relationships, experience of supporting young people, and working with a range of stakeholders in a pastoral and student support setting.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with young people and adult learners is essential as is working knowledge and proven industry experience in SEND provision.
  • You will have a high commitment to customer service as well as a flexible, creative, and multi-skilled approach.
  • Teamwork and an ability to support the learning and development of learners regardless of their starting points are important aspects of the role.
  • First aid and safeguarding qualifications, or the willingness to train in these areas, are desirable. Training in the use of specialist equipment/resources will be provided if necessary.
  • You will be experienced and well-qualified, but most importantly, you will have the students’ aspirations and wellbeing at the heart of your vision.

Salary: 

From £29K per annum, subject to qualifications and experience
