About The Role

 

Since the Covid19 pandemic, the number of children and young people being educated at home who are known to the Council has risen.

 

We are now recruiting a Safeguarding Advisor to join the School Effectiveness team in Children’s’ and Adults Services. This role will be a full-time post supporting the Elective Home Education (EHE) function wih communications with other key Council, statutory and social care services.

 

This Safeguarding Advisor will serve as a link between EHE families, Traveller families, schools’ and Social Services. This post is a requirement noted through Ofsted and the Schools White Paper as further emphasis and responsibility is expected to be placed on Local Authorities to care for and manage the needs of EHE pupils.

 

The Safeguarding Adviser will also be the key link between schools and the Local Authority, reinforcing the safeguarding links between Dedicated Safeguarding Leads within schools and the HSCP as well as lead on developing further joint up working with LADO and MASH.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Maintain regular contact with CYP to ensure safeguarding of all CYP on Traveller/EHE list
2. Making the judgement of quality and the provision of ‘suitable education’ by parents/carers for all CYP on EHE list with regards to safeguarding of pupil wellbeing.
3. Engaging and working with families who are known to be home education through schools/admission but who have not completed EHE registration paperwork, conducting regular safeguarding checks.
4. Quality support for some of the most vulnerable families In Hounslow.

 

Your Skills

 

1. Working with EHE or Vulnerable families including those where a child has been identified as being at risk.
2. A thorough understanding of EHE.
3. Relevant and up to date knowledge of EHE and Safeguarding legislation.
4. The ability to understand and assimilate relevant legislation and guidance and give advice on its content.

 

Professional Qualifications:

 

1. Teaching qualification is desirable
2. Experience of working with EHE pupils and families
3. Enhanced DBS check required.
