Quarriers WHAT IF Male service is situated in the Southside of Glasgow and provides a specialist supported accommodation service, which consists of housing and therapeutic support, for young males between the ages of 18 – 25yrs old.
The service provides 24/7 support to 12 young men who are affected by homelessness and have been unable to use existing supports to change the direction of their lives.
The young men referred to What If have been Looked After and Accommodated by the Local Authority at some point in their lives if not for most of their lives, as a result of being exposed to Adverse Childhood Experiences.
The service provides intensive support; practical support in all aspects of managing a tenancy, such as dealing with household tasks and bills, developing good neighbour skills, shopping and cooking, cleaning and support to attend appointments and engage with specialist agencies. As well as emotional / therapeutic support to manage relationships with peers, professionals and the general public, this involves building positive relationships with the young men, and staff promoting positive role modelling for them. The importance of quality and safety in relationships is paramount and focusing on providing consistent, reliable support to assist the young men to gain a sense of security and build resilience is essential.
We are recruiting for full time Intensive Support Workers (39 hours per week). This role is a very challenging yet extremely rewarding role offering different challenges every day.
The service operates 24/7, shift hours for this role consist of early shift (8 – 4pm) & backshift (14.30 – 22.30), worked on a rolling rota.
This is except under section 9(2)(b) of the employment (sex discrimination) Act 2000.
The successful candidate must have a full current driving licence and access to own transport and please note that IT skills are required for all Quarriers vacancies.
