Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Independent Safeguarding Reviewing Officer (ISRO)/Child Protection (CP) Conference Chair to provide maternity cover.

The ISRO is a specialist role and you will be jointly responsible for the maintenance of a system to ensure that reviews are child focused, completed within statutory timescales and to high standards thus contributing to the achievement of positive outcomes for children.  North Somerset has embedded the Signs of Safety model into CP conferences and children in care reviews and the ISRO/CP chairs are seen as champions in using this to engage families and ensure children receive the best care plans.

As an ISRO/CP Chairperson you will contribute to the development and quality assurance of service standards, and you will ensure actions comply with Council Policies and Procedures at all times.  You will require substantial experience of working with children in care and children who are subject to child protection plans, including complex legal proceedings.  You will also need an in-depth knowledge and understanding of childcare legislation, experience of managing social are staff or a social work team and the ability to authoritatively chair key multi-agency meetings and ensure effective and robust planning for children.

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
