Are you an individual with substantial strategic experience and operational understanding of safeguarding children? Are you someone who understands and is committed to the principles of keeping children safe and, promoting their welfare through outstanding partnership working? Are you passionate about continuous improvement of multi-agency working and ensuing that the voices of children and their families are embedded in service design and delivery?

If so, then this role could be for you.

As the Independent Chair and Scrutineer of the Pan-Dorset Safeguarding Children Partnership you will use your significant successful track record in strategic leadership across services responsible for safeguarding children, in order to advise and support the PDSCP Executive Team and ‘relevant agencies’. Working across two local authority areas, you will have the ability to facilitate the alignment of strategic agendas.

  • You will need to demonstrate extensive experience of chairing and leading strategic partnerships with proven outcomes.
  • You will possess excellent leadership, innovation and influencing skills, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences and to form strategic relationships across numerous partner organisations and strategic groups.

Are you someone who can communicate well in a range of settings including public meetings and are you confident to engage with Senior Managers across a range of organisations?

Can you offer an independent voice, representing the views of all partners whilst retaining the ability to challenge regarding improvement and effectiveness when required?

This is a challenging but rewarding role, an opportunity to support and shape outstanding partnership work at a strategic level with a wide range of multi-agency partners and professionals across the Dorset and BCP areas to improve outcomes for children and their families.

  • You will hold a professional qualification in a field related to safeguarding children or be able to demonstrate considerable relevant experience. You will be self-motivated and accomplished in supporting a range of partners in senior roles.
  • You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to engage with and motivate stakeholders, partner agencies and communities to champion the child’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect.
