Family Support Worker for Enfield Children’s Centre

Salary: Scale S01 – Salary Range £30,585 – £31,557

Hours: 36 hours per week x 52 weeks per year, 8:30am – 4:30pm

Working across the London Borough of Enfield

(2 days working from home each week is currently being trialed but there is no guarantee that this will continue indefinitely)

Role Profile

The post holder will play a key role in a multi-disciplinary team to support vulnerable families to attend the Children’s Centre and access support services, provide high quality services for children and families (both in the community and in parents’ homes) to improve outcomes for all children.

The post holder will undertake Family Support work to ensure it helps deliver the Core Purpose of Children’s Centres.

Deliver services in line to achieve the Government’s Core Purpose for Children’s Centres, to improve outcomes for young children and their families and reduce inequalities between families in greatest need and their peers in:

  • Child development and school readiness
  • Parenting aspirations and parenting skills
  • Child and family health and life chances.

The post holder will work primarily at one of the Children’s Centre sites and their work will require daily remote working at any location in Enfield including home visits to families. The client base will be typically families with additional or complex needs, but below the threshold for statutory social care intervention at Levels 2 or 3 of the London Continuum of Need. Many will be referrals from the London Borough of Enfield’s Children’s Portal.  The presenting issues of the families will often include domestic violence, alongside child neglect, worklessness and substance misuse.

The post will require some lone working in accordance with the Children’s Centre’s lone working policies and procedures.

The work will require low to moderate physical activity at times, such as visiting homes around the borough, climbing staircases in tower blocks where there is no lift in operation, etc.
