Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Family Safeguarding Team in Lancashire.

The Family Safeguarding Team aims to keep the highest risk children and families in Lancashire together safely, improve health and educational outcomes for the children and reduce physical and emotional harm in families.

The Family Safeguarding Team is multi-disciplinary, co-located and will work together to support families to keep together where it is safe to do so. Our approach is to support families using a technique of motivational interviewing which is designed to empower and engage parents to make the positive changes needed to achieve improved outcomes for their children and their own well-being.

The Family Safeguarding Teams are made up of social care practitioners and adult specialists to work with parents in relation to domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse.

Co located within the Lancashire County Council Children’s Service, which is an innovative, caring and welcoming place to work, with a workforce who are committed and passionate about making a positive difference to children, young people and families lives. Children’s Services are going through a transformation, working with partners including Change Grow Live to embrace strengths-based approaches, as we implement the Family Safeguarding model of practice.

The Family Safeguarding Team will support the delivery of effective support services to families, children and young people in line with the vision for Children and Families in Lancashire developed by the Children and Families Partnership Board which states;

Responsibilities:
The post holder will be employed by Change Grow Live who provide existing adult Substance Misuse services within Lancashire and work within the Family Safeguarding Team.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide intensive substance misuse support on a one to one and group work basis through the parent recovery programme in a variety of settings.

The post holder will be committed to taking a positive, holistic and empowering approach to assessing, case management, co-ordination and multi-agency working.

The post holder will work with service users to initiate recovery from drug and/or alcohol dependence, to enable service user to build their own recovery capital and to support them to move into long term sustained recovery and social (re)integration. They will achieve this by delivering appropriate personalised interventions all stages of treatment and by working effectively with a range support agencies.

In addition to a sound understanding and knowledge of evidence based drug and alcohol related issues and interventions; the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a real passion and commitment to delivering services within a recovery and outcome focused environment.

You will have a good knowledge of safeguarding and current legislation surrounding young people and families and experience of development of stakeholder relationships.
