The job

If that sounds like you, then keep reading! BHAFC are looking for a professional individual, with a high level of emotional intelligence, to come and join the team as Designated Safeguarding Officer. You will work closely with the player care team, mental health & wellbeing manager and senior safeguarding lead to ensure all prospective, current and outgoing players have the highest level of support in their journeys at Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

What does the day to day look like?

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will oversee all ongoing safeguarding concerns for our academy boys and girls’ RTC. You will fully embed into the academy team as an individual committed to leading and delivering the club and academy’s safeguarding strategy and club core values. You will be the face of safeguarding within the academy and an advocate for all children. Due to the nature of the role, you will need the confidence to deal with difficult decisions and conversations.

What we need

This is an important role to the club, so it is essential that the post-holder has experience of working with children and young people in an educational or youth centred setting, experience of holding safeguarding responsibilities and a strong knowledge of thresholds and referral processes and good working knowledge of the principles in KSCIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education) and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.

The successful candidate must also be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS CRC (Criminal Background Check).
