This is an exciting new development at the David Ross Education Trust.  We are committed to continually improving the support we provide for our pupils and families. We are looking to expand our core safeguarding team to include a Deputy Head of Safeguarding. This new colleague will work alongside the Head of Safeguarding, combining strategic responsibilities for policy development with operational support for Designated Safeguarding Leaders throughout our 34 academies.

You will be a sensitive mentor and a convincing trainer, ensuring all colleagues contribute to a robust safeguarding culture. You will play a key role in developing all colleagues’ expertise in identifying risk, engaging with safeguarding partners and sustaining robust case management. By analysing data and auditing practice, you will be instrumental in recognising improvements to systems and processes, and in quality assuring their implementation. A particular interest in one of the following issues, would be helpful: domestic abuse, emotional abuse and neglect, alcohol, drug and substance abuse, or mental health.

About you

Qualified Teacher Status / Honours Degree or Diploma in Social Work.

Detailed knowledge of current legislation policy, guidance and good safeguarding practice.

Experience of managing distressing, stressful and emotional situations in an education/social care setting.

Ability to work sympathetically and sensitively with all those affected by issues of safeguarding.

A collaborative worker and able to forge working relationships quickly.

Ability to manage workload and time effectively.
