We have an exciting opportunity for a Department Manager to work within the NHS Forth Valley child protection team.

The post holder will hold a responsibility for the management of the Child Protection Department. The post also has authority and responsibility for ensuring that processes are in place for the assessment of needs related to the sphere of Child Protection within NHSFV; for the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes aimed at meeting needs; and for the setting of standards; as well as for providing professional nursing advice and support.

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of management support to the, Service / Nurse Manager and General Manager, in the day to day operation of the Child Protection Department.

Qualification requirements

The job requires a first level registered nurse with a nursing, healthcare or social care qualification equivalent to a degree; a specific qualification in Child Protection preferably at Masters Level; and relevant experience at a senior level; with a leadership and/ or management post graduate qualification.

Registration with a professional organisation to be able to practice is essential.

Additional knowledge and skills

In order to make a significant impact on the service, the post holder will be required to have a highly-developed/in depth professional knowledge and skill set, in the area of child protection. Highly developed clinical/non-clinical leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to work together, are also required. In addition, it is essential that the post holder has an expert ability to analyse, highly complex information, to make autonomous, professional decisions; which the post holder will confidently use, to be able to make informed, strategic proposals.
