Children’s Social Worker – Safeguarding
Funded Systemic Social Work Post-Graduate University Course and relocation packages available for successful candidates who meet our eligibility criteria.

Our Safeguarding Service works alongside families where children are in need and in need of protection to increase safety and help families stay together. We’re looking for passionate social workers with strong assessment, intervention and risk management skills who enjoy engaging, building and sustaining relationships with children, their families and their network.
We see our social workers as ‘change agents’ who are skilled at taking different positions to help children and their families understand risks; harness and build on their strengths; co-produce safety and wellbeing plans and tackle difficult issues to reduce risk and effect positive changes in their lives.

Our values are that children should grow up in their families where it is safe for them to do so and we’re committed to working alongside the family network to increase safety for their children and we’re focussed on supporting excellent social work practice and use systemic approaches in a Signs of Safety framework to achieve this.

Here in Merton, our manageable caseloads let you be the innovative and creative social worker you want to be – direct work with children to hear their voice and understand their lived experiences; cultural genograms and timelines work with families to understand relationships and patterns; bringing family networks together to map strengths, worries and co-produce safety and wellbeing plans; direct work with parents and the wider family network to support them to tackle problems and change interactions and behaviours.

With permanent Team Managers and a permanent senior leadership team you’ll be well supported with regular and reflective supervision. Our workforce is stable and 85% of your social work colleagues across Children’s Social Care & Youth Inclusion are permanent.

We’re supporting flexible working arrangements and our offices meet the Covid-19 Secure standards. We’re using risk assessments and where needed, PPE to protect out social workers. Good technology is provided to help you stay connected to your team and manager through virtual meetings, team check-ins and service sessions. Our Learning and Development offer provides access to a range of learning opportunities and accredited Signs of Safety and Systemic social work training to develop you practice and your career.
