G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 5 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. We are now looking for a Children, Families and Visits Manager who has experience working in resettlement and working with young people.

This role will have overall responsibility for leading the family services for the next generation of Parc as we build and drive forward the excellent practice that we have delivered for many years. This roles aim to strengthen family ties and reduce re-offending and intergenerational offending by increasing opportunities for families to support sustainable rehabilitation, developing links with local community, family support and advice services. Manage a team, coordinate the Family Interventions, specialised family work, veterans and volunteer remits within Invisible Walls Family Services. Ensuring quality assurance and curriculum delivery to meet the contractual arrangements and targets. Work closely with the Operational, Visitor Centre and Through the Gate mentor teams. Representing the department internally and externally as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Children, Families and Relationship Manager in the delivery of HMP & You Parc’s Family and Significant Others Strategy and relevant reducing reoffending objectives.
  • Line Management responsibility, this includes management and supervision of staff and managers, including bi-annual development reviews (EDR), managing performance and developing a strong workforce
  • Ensure there are effective working relationships between non-operational teams, operational managers, Visits Centre staff and Through the Gate services.
  • Support and implement the delivery of key service change requirements identified in mobilisation of the new contract.
  • Coordinate family work/visits aimed at building better family relationships for prisoners, their families and significant others.
  • Responsible for all referrals and ensuring they are allocated and responded to within a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement a co-ordinated package of interventions to be delivered by the Family Intervention Caseworker and coordinators.
  • Ensure the 24 hour Helpdesk and specialised visits are kept to a high standard.
  • Manage child/public protection integrity for all interventions, liaising with relevant internal and external agencies e.g. Public Protection, OMU, police, social services, probation, etc.
  •  Coordinate the supervision and delivery of family focused interventions inline with the IW Family Service model as dictated by the Children, Family and Relationship Senior Manager.
  • Ensure the recording of relevant data on the T4 database, CMS and other relevant systems for monthly returns (KPI’s/KPT’s)
  • Provide overall quality assurance across the family service.
  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation and delivery of Case Management on the T4 Family Unit to ensure the support needs and identified goals are structured within an individualised family support plan (FSP)
  • Manage and oversee the Veterans Strategy for Main/VPU.
  • Manage and oversee the Volunteer provision team to ensure volunteers, student placements and peers are in place to assist the family service and wider estate.
  • Prepare reports and briefings on the development of the IW Family Service.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & following the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

Essential Skills:

  • Educated to degree level or NVQ Level 4 in a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Management and supervision of staff.
  • Delivery/supervision of family interventions


Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working in a custodial environment with prisoners and their children and families.
  • Cross sector partnership working.
  • Staff supervision, EDR’s, etc.
