An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Health Visitor, Midwife, or Registered Nurse (General/Mental Health) to undertake the duties of a Child Protection Advisor within the Child Protection Health Team.

To apply you must have a post qualifying academic qualification relevant to Child Protection such as a Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Child Protection and be able to provide evidence of continued professional development in the area of practice.

Applicants must have in-depth knowledge of policy and legislation that guides contemporary child protection practice with recent experience of the application of this to practice.  Experience of providing support, supervision and guidance to other health professionals is desirable.

The Child Protection Advisor role aims to ensure all staff within both adult and children’s services in NHS Ayrshire and Arran recognise their role and responsibility in protecting children and respond appropriately. The post will require the successful candidate to work closely with other health professionals as well as those from other agencies in an area of practice that is challenging and emotionally sensitive and as such applicants should be emotionally attuned to the impact of the work on others.

The post holder will be operationally managed and receive professional and clinical leadership from the Nurse Consultant for Child Protection with the support of the other Child Protection Advisors.

Due to the nature of this role, a car driver is essential.

This post is offered as a permanent position and the current base is 62 Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is a condition of this post and the successful applicant(s) will require to join the scheme prior to appointment.
