As a Child Protection Advisor working within the Child Protection Health Team based at University Hospital Crosshouse you will ensure all staff within both adult and children’s services in NHS Ayrshire and Arran recognise their role and responsibility in protecting children and respond appropriately. You are required to work closely with other health professionals as well as those from other agencies in an area of practice that is challenging and emotionally sensitive.

A registered Health Visitor, Midwife, or Nurse (General/Mental Health) with a post qualifying academic qualification relevant to Child Protection such as a Post Graduate Certificate or Diploma in Child Protection is essential, you will also be able to provide evidence of continued professional development in the area of practice. An in-depth knowledge of policy and legislation that guides contemporary child protection practice with recent experience of the application of this practice is essential.  Experience of providing support, supervision and guidance to other health professionals is desirable.

You will be operationally managed and receive professional and clinical leadership from the Nurse Consultant for Child Protection with the support of the other Child Protection Advisors.

This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 1 year to cover maternity leave. Approval must be sought from you manager prior to taking up a secondment.

A car driver is essential.

Hours: 37.5 per week.
