Job Description

Rotherham Safeguarding Children Partnership

Chair and Independent Scrutineer

Remuneration: Up to £700 per day; Time Commitment: approx. 2/3 days per month

Rotherham is an authority that has changed dramatically, and we look to the future with a renewed sense of purpose where we make a real difference to children and families in the Borough. We are passionate about keeping children and young people safe, supporting those in need and ensuring that all children have the best possible start in life.

Our Safeguarding Children Partnership has a well-defined and bold vision that is underpinned by strong relationships across all partners, whom all share an equal responsibility and accountability for the children of Rotherham. Central to this vision is a whole-system approach to safeguarding children.

As the term of our current Chair comes to an end, we are looking to find our next Independent Scrutineer/Chair who will continue to develop the partnership, who will align with our values but bring their own unique vision and approach. With a proven ability to fairly assess, challenge where necessary, and strive for an ‘Outstanding’ offer, we are looking for someone who, in a diverse borough, is genuinely passionate about the wellbeing of all of our children and young people. This exciting role will play a critical part in ensuring that the Safeguarding Partnership makes a positive difference to Rotherham.

We are looking for someone who is professionally curious, a strong communicator who can engage with partners, stakeholders and residents. You will thrive in a high support – high challenge environment, promoting scrutiny and system leadership, all with the overarching aim of providing confidence that multi-agency safeguarding arrangements for children across Rotherham are effective and robust.

You will have extensive experience in chairing strategic partnerships, an excellent knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the voice of children or adults, as well as the ability to inspire trust and conviction of senior professionals across a range of agencies. With significant operational and management experience in a relevant professional specialism, you will be able to rely on your judgement to make informed decisions whilst ensuring a collegiate and engaged contribution from all members of the partnership.
