An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable Health or Social Care professional to join a committed Corporate Safeguarding Team within BCUHB. Applications are encouraged from a wide range of disciplines with a broad range of experience within children and adult services to take forward an all age based approach to safeguarding.

As a Safeguarding Advisor you will be able to retain (and enhance) your current specialist skills along with developing new ones as we improve our safeguarding offer in line with the principles of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act [2014]. You will be joining a committed hardworking and progressive team. A full induction will be offered to the successful candidate(s).

The post holder will work to provide specialist safeguarding support to all clinicians providing supervision, advice, guidance and training relating to the Safeguarding agenda. A significant element of the role will be working in partnership within a multi-agency arena ensuring effective communication, learning and collaboration is progressed between BCUHB and partner agencies.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.

Main duties of the job

LEADERSHIP

On behalf of the Safeguarding Manager the post holder will work across BCUHB services in their respective areas

The post-holder will provide expert )advice, guidance, support and leadership to a widerange of clinical professionals

The post-holder will maintain, and support others in maintaining high quality records detailing safeguarding events

The post-holder will support staff in completing Datix to record safeguarding events where necessary , and in making referrals in a timely and expedient manner

 PATIENT SAFETY AND PROTECTION

The post-holder will review intelligence from across the Director of Nursing’s portfolio, and follow up if areas are flagging as potentially requiring additional support

The post-holder will conduct regular and unannounced clinical audits of safeguarding

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered with NMC or allied health and social care professionals First degree or equivalent evidence of knowledge Good understanding of clinical governance Good understanding of consent and capacity: Gillick, Montgomery, MCA Good understanding of legal aspects of safeguarding and the importance of record keeping
Desirable criteria
  • Masters qualification Experience of working in regulation and/or compliance Experience of serious incidents and root cause analysis Best Interests accredited training

Experience
