Academy Safeguarding Officer

About the opportunity: Safeguarding is at the top of our agenda across our Club. Because of this we have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and conscientious Safeguarding professional to join our Governance and Technology department as our Academy Safeguarding Officer.

As Academy Safeguarding Officer, you will support in the delivery of a high-quality safeguarding framework in close collaboration with all departments across the Academy. You will not only ensure that all children, young people, and adults at risk are protected from harm, but you will also promote and protect the rights of children, young people, and adults at risk.

You will play a lead role in promoting a Safer Culture by training and communicating key messages regularly to all staff, volunteers, children, vulnerable groups, and other stakeholders across the Club.

 

Other core responsibilities within this role include:

  • Development and implementation of Safeguarding Operating Standards specific to Footballing activities
  • Writing and implementing codes of conducts for staff, coaches, players, participants, spectators, and parents/carers in a range of settings across the Club
  • Work with the People Support Team and recruiting managers to ensure the completion of Disclosure and Barring Service background checks across the organisation (and other relevant overseas checks where necessary) in accordance with UK legislation, Premier League and FA rules, and Club policy
  • A visible presence at the Academy, matchdays and events, supporting with the documentation of safeguarding risk assessments for key activities

 

Who we are looking for: Ideally, we are looking for someone who has previous experience within a safeguarding role and is familiar with the safeguarding arrangements and processes that are essential in keeping staff, children, and vulnerable groups safe.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be comfortable utilising these skills when working with a variety of stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have a clear, Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) (Disclosure and Barring Service) before starting employment.

This position is on a permanent basis and will be contacted to 35 hours per week. The closing date of this advert is Thursday 19th January 2023.

This position is based at our training ground, Finch Farm.
