Webinar: Working with your LADO or local council

2nd December 2021 @ 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Course outline

In England and Wales, the LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) is responsible for managing allegations against adults who work with children. The LADO oversees investigations to ensure thoroughness, fairness and impartiality and works with employers, schools, children’s social care and the police. Similarly, in Scotland, your local Child Protection Committee (CPC) fulfils a similar role.

In managing safeguarding or child protection cases, it is the responsibility of the organisation or individual who has received an allegation or concern to notify their local authority or council. A good relationship with your LADO or CPC is therefore invaluable for DSL/DSOs: this can be built on an understanding of the role and day-to-day processes and requirements of the LADO as well as advice on how to develop strong local cooperation.

Training topics will include:

  • Managing allegations as an employer
  • The role of the LADO
  • Developing good local cooperation.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understanding the allegations management process
  • Know your responsibilities as employers
  • Support the development of safer organisations.

Audience:

  • All practitioners working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals, DSL/DSO, DDSL, Safeguarding Manager/Lead, Governors, Trustees, practitioners working in settings with multi-agency intervention.

Cost:

  • Member rate: £60
  • Member rate (additional attendee): £15
