Webinar: the rights of children and young people

18th March 2021 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Worldwide, children and young people have rights. In 1989 the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child set out the human rights of every person under 18. The Convention applies to every child, whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities and whatever their family background or public beliefs/feelings. This was set out to ensure that all children had the opportunity to develop and reach their full potential.

Jointly organised with Farrer & Co, this webinar will consider the rights of children and young people today, looking in detail at the UK but also considering the global picture, and how these rights impact our practices and actions in relation to safeguarding and child protection.

Audience:

This webinar is suitable for anyone working with young people, and especially those working to promote physical and emotional development of children with due consideration to safeguarding, child protection and best practice guidance.

Training aims:

  • What are the rights of children and young people?
  • What are the particular laws and rights for children and young people in the UK?
  • How do these impact working with children and young people?
  • Best practice recommendations for being aware of the rights of children and young people, and working safely and in adherence to these.
