Updating safeguarding and Code of Conduct policy and procedure

Course outline:

This webinar considers some key principles and practices around updating safeguarding and code of conduct policies. How to use a range of data to inform the update process and articulate the rationale for specific update with regard to governance, regulatory inspection.  It will consider how to work with colleagues using policy and procedure in their practice.

Delegates will have the opportunity to consider and share a range of approaches to this task and positively impact the ongoing development of safer organisations practice.

Training topics will include:

  • Approaches to the update process
  • Regulatory requirements and using data to inform your safeguarding policy update
  • The role and voice of the child and service user
  • Links between significant policies
  • Governance and dissemination plans.

Learning outcomes:

  • Consider different approaches to the update process
  • Be clear about their rationale for the data they draw on to conduct updates
  • Consider links to a range of other significant policies
  • Consider their plans for governance involvement and dissemination needs of staff.

Audience: Safeguarding leads, governors, trustees, proprietors and board members responsible for review and refresh of safeguarding policy and code of conduct.

Claire Dan, Director of Safeguarding and Director, Sacpa

Claire is Director of Safeguarding and Director, Sacpa and leads on the provision of safeguarding advice and support to members and the development and delivery of CPD and safeguarding consultancy services. Claire is a safeguarding specialist and leader with a background in education welfare, youth justice, and early help contexts which have involved a strong focus on diverse and collaborative partnerships, professional development and supervision of front-line safeguarding colleagues, and leading multi-disciplinary teams and projects. Between 2006 and 2013 Claire was involved with Luton Safeguarding Children Board as a lead multi-agency safeguarding trainer, developing and delivering single and multi-agency safeguarding training, and since 2013 has delivered pieces of bespoke consultancy work, and providing a range of safeguarding consultancy on a freelance basis.
