Course outline:
Effective safeguarding – whether with children or adults – relies on clear, compassionate, and skilled communication, particularly when addressing conflict or harm. This introductory webinar offers a practical exploration of restorative approaches, including restorative practice, mediation, and restorative justice, as well as important caveats and common questions.
A great introduction to get you thinking about how restorative approaches may support those difficult conversations with and between children, young people, colleagues, parents, carers and partners.

Speaker:

Maria Arpa is Founder and Chair of the Centre for Peaceful Solutions, established in 2006 in response to rising violence in her community. She developed the Dialogue Road Map (DRM), a conflict resolution model used across London and New York to address issues ranging from family disputes to gang conflict and workplace tensions. Maria focuses on empowering individuals to resolve conflict themselves, training prisoners, teenagers and community members as mediators. The DRM supports communication, decision-making and healing across sectors including education, healthcare and business. She has written two books and was awarded an MBE in 2020 for Services to Mediation.
