Speaker:

David advises leading independent schools, sports and religious organisations on a wide range of sensitive issues, including dismissals, pupil exclusions and parental complaints. Widely acknowledged as one of the country’s most experienced safeguarding lawyers, he founded the firm’s Child Protection Unit, now the Safeguarding Unit, in 2015. The Unit advises organisations working with or coming into contact with children on the full range of safeguarding matters, from creating safer systems and handling live cases to retrospective reviews. David is particularly well known for leading the Farrer team’s Independent Review into the criminal misconduct of William Vahey. The Review subsequently prompted the UK government’s introduction of low-level concerns policies, now a national requirement for all schools in England.
