Requirements

You will have a Degree in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW, CSS (with appropriate option) and you must be registered with SSSC within a specified timeframe. You will have proven post qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to become a Team Manager within Dundee City Council’s Care and Protection Intake Service based within Seymour House, where you will be co located with partner agencies. You will provide professional leadership as first line manager with day-to-day operational management responsibility for a team or teams of staff delivering front line social work services, whilst ensuring high standards of practice parameters and service provision are maintained. You will manage a duty system operating as duty manager having oversight of new referrals and child protection interventions. This will include participating and chairing IRD’s. You will have a significant role in the implementation and development of national projects including Scottish Child Interview Model ( SCIM) and Bairns’ Hoose. This will include the development of partnership working other agencies.

The Individual

You will have proven post qualifying experience and experience of working with children, young people and their families. You will also have a working knowledge of relevant legislation, supervision skills, leadership qualities, organisational skills and a knowledge of teams. You will be able to take responsibility for the management of referrals and allocation of work. You will be able to advise and respond in crisis situations, understand the safety issues in managing staff and be committed to supporting staff. You will be actively involved in development of our partnership working arrangements. You will occasionally be required to work evenings and/or be contactable at home and you will be able to travel efficiently in the course of your duties. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
