The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Thursday 08.30 – 16.30 Friday 09.30 – 16.00

Please note the salary is pro rata for part time hours.

The opportunity has arisen to join the Renfrewshire School Nursing Team as a Staff Nurse/trainee Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, (SCPHN), School Nursing on a fixed term for 18-months.

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake the SCPHN, School Nursing Programme on a full-time basis from 8th September 2025. It is essential you are able to start this post having completed a period of notice within current post. You will also complete the SCPHN School Nursing Programme application via University of West of Scotland and be accepted. As this is a fixed term contract, there is no permanent post on completion of the SCPHN School Nursing Programme.

Renfrewshire covers an expansive geographical area with varying demographics. The Renfrewshire School Nursing Service is a targeted, referral in service supporting the health needs of children and young people within 11 High School, 52 Primary Schools and one Additional Support for Learning School. As fully described within the Job Description, the post holder will work as part of the School Nursing Service to support the continued implementation of the National Public Health Pathways for our school-aged population. You will support the work of the existing team delegated and supervised by the SCPHN School Nurses and Team Leader primarily as a trainee SCPHN, School Nursing capacity. It is therefore essential applicants have successfully completed a degree within Nursing and registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council, NMC. It is essential you bring experience and understanding of the Getting It Right For Every Child, GIRFEC, principles to support specific health needs of the school aged population. The post holder will work in partnership with service users, local authorities and other key partners to deliver quality, evidenced based and person-cantered care underpinned by GIRFEC and UNCRC principles. You will fulfil child protection and safe guarding responsibilities in line with current Child Protection Guidance and local policy. A working knowledge of EMIS is advantageous as is a full UK driving licence. You will be an experienced First level Registered Nurse with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council and have experience of working within the community with children, young people and their families or those who care for them.
