Dalry: Police escort man from house after crowd gathers outside home

Posted: 21st April 2023

A MAN has been led away by police from a house in Dalry after a crowd gathered outside a property in the town.

The man was seen being escorted from the property on Wenesday, April 19.

It is understood that the crowd gathered outside the property in a protest organised by neighbours in an effort to have the man moved to a different location.

The demonstration was captured on film and shared on social media by activists from Team Shades, a self-styled ‘online child protection and awareness team’.

The Herald understands that the demonstration was organised after the conviction of a man for raping a 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulting a 36-year-old woman in 2016 – and that the man was later jailed for six years and four months.

Police Scotland told that Herald that the crowd dispersed shortly after their attendance at the property.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers attended an address in Dalry shortly after 6pm on Wednesday, 19 April after a crowd gathered outside a property.

“The crowd dispersed a short time later.”
