Why do you want to be the Trust Safeguarding Lead at Unity Schools Partnership?
Safeguarding is everyone’s business and within Unity Schools Partnership the health, safety and well-being of every pupil is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors/trustees, and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils. Building further on the strong work to date, you will develop and implement the trust’s safeguarding strategy to ensure that all our pupils and staff work within a compliant and robust culture of safeguarding.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the safeguarding strategy across our trust. As our Trust Safeguarding Lead, you are thinking constantly about keeping children safe by working in partnership with colleagues and leading on the development of trust policy and practice to ensure safeguarding is effective across our trust.
You will provide a valuable support for headteachers, central trust staff and designated safeguarding leads within the trust if they are concerned about a child protection or safeguarding issue.
You will ensure that all staff have the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to provide a safe environment for all pupils through the development and oversight of development and training programmes for key staff responsible for safeguarding. This will include using our MIS to identify contextual needs and CPD required.
You will work in conjunction with the wider system leadership, CEO, Directors of Education and Director of HR to secure excellence in safeguarding practice. You will support the trust’s safeguarding committee to report to the trust board under our robust and rigorous governance arrangements. You will lead our trust DSL network and as a proactive networker, you will promote and develop the trust’s local, regional, and national profile.
You will have a busy, demanding, and varied workload, so if you are a well organised person who thrives on a busy working environment where no two days are the same, we would love to hear from you.

We would particularly welcome applications from individuals who are:
Experience of supporting all aspects of safeguarding and wellbeing to successfully meet the needs of pupils
Experience of training and coaching others in the leadership and management of safeguarding
You will have excellent organisational skills and will be able to build strong working relationships, as well as influence the work of others. You will also be flexible, self-motivated, and resilient.

Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain high level of attention to detail when under pressure.

Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover any urgent issues that may arise.
We have a travel claims policy to ensure you are supported on travel requirements of the role.
