Substance Misuse Recovery Facilitator – 37 hours per week – Initially 3 months – £22.66ph PAYE or £28.00ph Umbrella
To be part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Bracknell Forest Family Safeguarding Team, based within Children’s Social Care and includes Social Workers, Mental Health Practitioners and Domestic Abuse Practitioners.
To provide high quality substance misuse support and interventions to the highest risk families as part of the Family Safeguarding Team.
Delivering comprehensive psychosocial and pharmaceutical interventions to families affected by substance misuse where children are subject to Child Protection or Child in Need plans.
Job Duties
  • To engage high risk families who have substance misuse problems, provide advice, harm minimisation information, and encourage positive engagement within this service to improve outcomes for children.
  • To deliver a full range of interventions on a one-to-one basis, in group settings and in the community utilising motivational interviewing, cognitive behaviour techniques and brief interventions to promote engagement with treatment services, encourage self-esteem, wellbeing, self-responsibility, enhanced motivation and improve parenting capacity.
  • To manage an agreed caseload of adults and young people with a range of needs.
  • To complete comprehensive assessments, risk assessments and develop risk management plans as required which will be aimed at promoting the safety and security of the individual, the family, staff within services, and members of the public and to regularly review risk.
  • Promote sexual health awareness and support access to sexual health screening services as required.
  • To undertake drug testing as required and support staff to understand and undertake these tasks, following safety guidelines and protocol
  • Promote the Family Safeguarding Model in multi-agency forums through presenting data and case studies as required.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience of working in substance misuse services
  • NVQ 2/3 in Health & Social Care or Equivalent Experience of Working in a Social Care environment
  • Good Standard of Education – GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent.
Knowledge, abilities, skills, experience
  • Understanding of and commitment to the requirements of safeguarding children, young people, vulnerable adults and promoting their welfare.
  • Experience of working with high-risk families where children are subject to child protection or child in need plans.
  • IT literate and competent in use of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Teams and Excel
  • Previous experience of undertaking comprehensive assessments, risk assessment, developing risk management plans and developing and reviewing recovery plans
  • Ability and experience to deliver substance misuse interventions both office-based and out in the wider community.
  • The post holder must hold a full UK driving licence (or valid equivalent).
