An opportunity has arisen for a temporary Social Worker post within Services for Children, Young People and Families to support the needs of Ukrainian Refugees children and families with a particular focus on safeguarding and looked After children.

This is an opportunity for the right person to develop the role of a child care social worker in a multi agency context to meet the safeguarding needs of the Ukrainian children and their families who have flown a country at war.

This post requires you to work very closely with colleagues in housing, communities, community safety, education, health and the third sector to identify, develop and provide the needed supports for the Ukrainian families.  This role is also to ensure Perth and Kinross is compliant with the Scottish Government Safeguarding Policy

This post will require a flexible and creative approach to managing a caseload which could vary but will include Ukrainian children who are considered to be Looked After and Accommodated under S25. and Section 22.

You will be required you to work with colleagues across services to identify and assess risk, provide the necessary supports that will provide protection and support to Ukrainian children, young people and their families.  You will be expected to complete various types of reports particularly in relation to Look After Children.

The Individual

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Social Worker who is confident in assessing risks and needs of children, young people and their families.  The skill to write clear and analytical assessment is necessary.

The worker should be a good team player and must be able to carry out the role of a child care social worker within the context of multi-disciplinary environment both in person and virtually.

You will be a qualified Social Worker with experience in child care social work.  You will be well-organised, able to prioritise and manage competing demands, assertive and clear in your communication.  You will be able to demonstrate high standards in written reports and have a clear understanding of the needs of vulnerable children and families.  You will have a commitment to continuous professional development and have, or be willing to work towards, your Graduate Certificate in Child Welfare and Protection.
