Job Description

As a sheltered housing warden you will work with vulnerable service users in their own tenancy providing low level tenancy management and support within the Sheltered Housing Scheme.

Requirements

Undertake home visits as per Housing Support Plans, to each tenants within the Scheme.

Maintain all Scheme Records

Observe the health and well-being of all tenants and ensure that all Council Policies and Procedures in relation to Safeguarding are followed

Ensure the effective reporting of repairs and maintenance of properties

Undertake duties relating to the upkeep of the communal areas

Responsible for Community Alarm Call system and maintaining records associated with the system

Actively participate in Warden On-Call Rota

Participation in team meetings, training and supervision

Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council

The Individual

Experience of working with older or people with multiple needs.

Experience of multidisciplinary working.

Qualifications meeting SSSC registration for Support Workers in a Housing Support Service (or willingness to work towards)

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Ability to organise, plan, and monitor workload.

Effective communication skills both oral and written.

The ability to gain the confidence of and deal sensitively with vulnerable people.

The ability to work in a multidisciplinary manner.

The ability to keep accurate records relating to involvement with service users.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

Ability to relate to people with multiple needs.

Home visits to service users own homes.

Ability to work in different offices depending on the needs of the service.

Ability to lift and carry reasonable weight, move furniture in accordance with the moving and handling regulations.

Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
