Do you have at least two years’ experience working with challenging behaviours in a residential setting and are looking to make a difference through a therapeutic approach? If so, the post of Senior Residential Child Care Worker (RCCW) could be for you.

Caerphilly CBC are looking to recruit a Senior RCCW to join one of our expanding children’s residential homes. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who is experienced, skilled and knowledgeable in residential childcare and who strives to make a difference to the lives of these vulnerable children.

We work very closely with the Caerphilly MyST team whose central purpose is to improve the psychological wellbeing of young people as well as their relationships with birth family, their attachments with safe adults, reduce placement disruptions and particularly the risk of out-of-county placements for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Together, we proactively provide 24/7 care to help these young people to encourage their social, physical, emotional and moral development so that they can reach their full potential.

As a senior RCCW, you will demonstrate good leadership skills and will be able to model good, consistent care to colleagues whilst also supervising, mentoring and running the home in the absence of the home manager. In order to apply for the post, you must be in possession of a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) and will be required to work towards your Level 5 Diploma. In addition we will promote your continued professional development by providing regular training opportunities as well as through supervisions and clinical support when needed. You will be required to work shifts, including evenings and weekends and to sleep in and be on-call when needed. These will attract financial enhancements in addition to your basic salary.
