Job Description

This Role

At MTVH we are committed to doing things right for our customers and have developed the internal structures and positions to properly support our customers and colleagues to deliver this personalised approach. We are seeking someone with the ambition to be part of this journey and positively influence how our customers are supported. As Safeguarding Support Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Strategy & Support (our operational lead for safeguarding), supporting them and the broader organisation to effectively safeguard our customers in line with all relevant standards and best practice. You will be the go-to person for escalated safeguarding concerns and advice on applying policy and legislation, whilst also contributing to our strategic response to safeguarding and broader customer need. You will be responsible for the use of data and analytics across the wider Strategy and Support team; and play a key role in supporting the professional practice and resilience of your colleagues.

You will be a key member of the Strategy & Support team, responsible for setting strategic direction and proving expert advice and guidance where we need to provide extra support to our customers and related risks. At the same time, you will work closely with operational teams across the organisation – not least Care and Support, Housing, Empowering Futures, and our Property Teams – so you will need to be able to build strong and constructive relationships quickly, often in challenging situations.

This is a national role and, once in-person working resumes, you will need to regularly attend offices in London and the East Midlands, as well as visiting local teams and services across our area of operation.

What you will need to succeed

This is a role where you can really have a positive influence on how we are managing risk and driving change for our customers with respect to Safeguarding. As you will be working autonomously in most situations and managing your own workload so previous experience is essential. As well as extensive experience of safeguarding and the legislation and policy regarding safeguarding for children and families you will need to be familiar with CQC-regulated services. You must be comfortable leading investigations and experienced representing an organisation at multi-agency reviews (such as DHRs). You will need to be very familiar with housing or social care, or a very closely aligned environment.

The majority of your role will be supporting and advising others, so we will be looking for skills that help you to do that well. Relationship building is key, but so is the ability to challenge constructively – even with more senior colleagues. We are a large organisation too, and our colleagues come with a range of different perspectives that will challenge you to flex and adapt your approach according to the situation.

To be effective in the decisions being taken we rely on robust intelligence and effective reporting which you will directly impact. You should therefore be able to demonstrate the ability to lead the collation, analysing and monitoring of data and make recommendations which contribute to the improvements of service delivery.

As we are looking for ambitious colleagues so are aware you may be doing relevant professional qualifications or looking to ensure these professional licenses are maintained so we are committed to supporting you in this.

About Us

Our organisation was built on a simple mission – to give people a safe, secure, and affordable home. That is as true today as it was in the 1950’s, when our founder Molly Huggins established on organisation to provide homes for Windrush migrants in London. Our core purpose I that “everyone should have a home and the chance to live well” To fulfil this vision, we work with partners to make our neighbourhoods – new and old – sustainable and vibrant places, where our customers want to live. We put people at the heart of everything we do and to guide is in every decision we make. Through managing more than 57,000 households we work at a scale that means our actions to achieve this have real impact.

We firmly believe that by serving people better every day, we will support a healthier, better cared for, and more prosperous society in the future. Like our founders before us, we will leave a lasting legacy for future generations. Our colleagues are crucial to our success in achieving this. Therefore, we are committed to investing in colleagues and creating the opportunity for them to develop. Our working environment has been designed to be one that brings out the very best in people.
