The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

This new and exciting position sits in the Surrey Children’s Services Academy. The purpose of the Academy is to recruit, retain and develop the Children’s Services’ workforce, and collaborate with the Surrey Safeguarding Children’s Partnership to facilitate their learning offer.

The Academy works to raise professional standards, introduce and embed new skills and ways of working, and provide up to date knowledge and research to support practice development. The Academy supports staff within the Children, Families and Lifelong Learning Directorate (CFLL), foster carers, and partner agencies.

About the role

The purpose of this role will be to build positive relationships with partners from the Surrey Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and colleagues in Children, Families and Lifelong Learning. You will work collaboratively to identify and facilitate a high-quality learning and development programme for workers in the Partnership, which may also cross over into CFLL.

You will contribute to evaluating the learning and training on offer, to ensure it is making a difference to children and families through the impact it has on practice and is valuable to practitioners. You will lead on producing an annual training brochure and working with colleagues in the Academy to ensure courses are well advertised and attended.

About you

You will be a highly effective communicator able to engage with colleagues, and be solution focused to work through issues that arise.

To apply and be considered for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Knowledge and / or experience of learning and development.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, procedural frameworks, and practice standards in Safeguarding Children.
  • Competency in a range of IT tools including MS Office and database management systems.
  • Proven written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with good negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
