The Safeguarding Manager – Network and Governance, is a key role within the ECB Safeguarding Team driving and supporting the ongoing development and improvement of safeguarding practice and governance throughout the whole cricket network in England and Wales to ensure the ECB delivers our strategic safeguarding aims.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Embedding strategic safeguarding across the cricket network by supporting the development of the County Partnership Agreement Safeguarding Standard.  You will be a Subject Matter Advisor, supporting ECB colleagues to evaluate counties against these standards.
  • Developing the ECB County Safeguarding Advisors through supervision and CPD to ensure that support is provided to all ECB funded cricket organisations including First Class Counties, County Boards and Women’s Regional Club’s at an appropriate level to enable these organisations to meet the County Partnership Agreement safeguarding standard.
  • Cultivating excellent relationships with our cricket network strategic and operational safeguarding leads including providing appropriate challenge to ensure that expected levels of safeguarding provision are maintained.
  • Continuing the development of a sustainable external audit cycle across the cricket network, including establishing an appeal process for audit findings.
  • Overseeing the continuous review of the ECB’s Safehands Policy and Practice Guidance to ensure that it reflects best practice, key legislation, and statutory guidance.
  • Leading on the ongoing development of the network of strategic and operational safeguarding leads across the cricket network via the provision of continuing professional development including delivering regional and national learning events and embedding quality assurance processes for the ECB’s Safehands training.
  • Developing and embedding a mechanism for peer to peer sharing of best practice in safeguarding across the cricket network.
  • Creating a cricket safeguarding focus group to inform the development and implementation of a strategy and action plan which reflects the diverse needs of the cricket network.
  • Leading the development and implementation of the ECB’s approach to safeguarding Adults at Risk and ensuring compliance with the Ann Craft Trust safeguarding standards.
  • Supporting the response to specific case management issues in the cricket network, including working alongside the case management team to triage cases against published thresholds and promote a proactive response to lower-level concerns.
  • Undertaking other tasks as may be required to ensure the effective running of the ECB Safeguarding Team.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Substantial experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk, within a statutory, voluntary or sporting setting.
  • A demonstrable ability to influence from the centre, across many organisations and at all levels.
  • Substantial experience in conflict resolution, dealing with sensitive issues and working in a highly confidential environment.
  • Experience of implementing organisational standards and analysing and responding to the findings of organisational audit.
  • Significant understanding of the implications of Working Together 2018 for sports organisations and experience of implementing these at an organisational level.
  • Experience of managing a team including providing effective supervision and completing and responding to training needs assessment.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, personal resilience, and tenacity.
  • Experience of working alongside a volunteer workforce.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of robust safeguarding governance to the reputation of the ECB as the National Governing Body for cricket.
  • A UK driving licence, access to a car and the ability to travel across England and Wales, including overnight stays.
  • IT skills to support your role including Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and administration of online meeting applications.  Experience in the use of smart sheets is desirable.
