About the Position
YMCA DownsLink Group provides services to vulnerable children, young people & adults across Sussex and into Surrey, our offer includes supported accommodation for single homeless and young families, counselling in schools and community settings, advice work, youth work and specialist projects such as WiSE (What is Sexual Exploitation).
This role sits within the organisations safeguarding team supporting staff to manage the growing complexity of our service users, to better support the management of safeguarding activity and multi-agency interventions around earliest help and escalation of risk to statutory agencies.
Role Responsibilities
- Support YMCA DLG’s Safeguarding Strategy and delivery of the safeguarding operational plan working closely with managers to ensure best practice in terms of training, policy and processes.
- Maintain up to date knowledge on legislation, policy and recognised best practice, regarding the protection of children and adults at risk.
- Ensure YMCA DLG policies and procedures are kept up to date to reflect current legislation and best practice, in agreement with YMCA DLG’s Safeguarding Forum and with the approval of trustees.
Key Requirements
- Experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
- Experience of attending multi-agency meetings to present information,
- Experience in supporting service development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Diploma in social work or relevant qualification with significant safeguarding experience
- Full driver’s licence and access to a car
Working pattern: 15 hours per week (one day must be a Wednesday – hours could be split over three days)
