Part of the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, Spring Brook School caters for pupils with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties from primary age to Key Stage 3. Spring Brook is a unique place where pupils are nurtured and developed to encourage independence and skills for life, and their social, emotional and mental health needs are at the forefront of our work.

The school operates on a split site basis with the KS3 provision based in Failsworth and the primary provision based in Hollins. Our vision is to create an organisation that is successful, aspirational and sustainable. We ensure that our children and young people benefit from being a partner in our family of schools within Oldham.

Due to increasing demands, the Trustees have created the exciting new role of Safeguarding Lead, with responsibility for safeguarding and child protection matters across both phases of the school.

The primary functions of the role are to:

  • provide highly specialised Safeguarding leadership, support and advice to pupils and staff at Spring Brook School.
  • provide or organise interventions when appropriate, liaising with parents, carers and external partners for the benefit of our pupils.
  • promote multi agency cooperation in order to ensure the specific needs of all pupils are met
  • represent the school at relevant meetings including Child in Need meetings, Child protection plan meetings review/early intervention meetings etc. as directed
  • be a Designated Safeguarding Lead and a first point of contact regarding Safeguarding issues

Due to the complex nature of our students, high levels of emotional and physical resilience are essential for staff working within this provision.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how they meet the following essential criteria:

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Successful leadership and management experience in a school or other relevant organisation
  • Experience of managing safeguarding in a school or other relevant organisation
  • Experience of representing an organisation at formal meetings, advocating for the individual and working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Expert knowledge of legislation and guidance on safeguarding and working with young people, including knowledge of the responsibilities of schools and other agencies
  • Demonstrable evidence of developing and implementing strategies to help children and their families
  • The ability to work with a range of people with the aim of ensuring the safety and welfare of children
  • The ability to communicate a vision and inspire others
  • The physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs, taking a non-judgemental approach, understanding that all behaviour is a form of communication
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Enthusiastic, highly organised, flexible, proactive, creative, resourceful and the ability to work as part of a team

 

Salary: £32,234 – £34,728 per annum plus SEN allowance £1,324 per annum

Hours of work: 36 hrs 40 mins per week /Full year

Location: Working between both Spring Brook sites, Hollins & Failsworth

Commencing: As soon as possible
