Required from March 2021

The Governing Body of our school are looking to appoint a passionate and forward thinking SEND Support and Safeguarding Lead with excellent communication skills to our ‘Good’ school, ‘Where Children Shine’.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate significant and recent experience in a safeguarding related role, including in dealing with Child Protection concerns, leading on EHAT meetings and the safeguarding of vulnerable children. They will have a good working knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, including the Prevent Duty.
In addition, they will have current experience of working alongside multi-agencies responsible for Special Educational Needs, working with parents and working with a school’s SENCO.
They will also be responsible for leading and line managing a team of highly skilled and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants.

The person appointed to this role will join a supportive school leadership team and report directly to the Headteacher and SENCO.

Purpose of the Post:

1. To support the Headteacher by taking responsibility for the safeguarding, personal, social and emotional needs of the children, especially those who are deemed vulnerable by the school.

2. To assist the Headteacher in the development of future initiatives specific to school -based safeguarding initiatives.

3. To support the school’s SENCO

4. Responsible for the management of other teaching assistants including allocation and monitoring of work, appraisal and training supported by the senior leaders

You will need to have been employed in a primary school previously and have extensive experience of liaising with multi agencies and parents and families.

You need to be: 

 Able to keep detailed records
 Enthusiastic
 Experienced at working with young children
 Calm, patient resilient, 
Able to work well within a team 
Have the ability to make a positive contribution to the life of the school.
