Youth Hubz LTD, 16+ Care Leavers Service

Reports to: Service Manager or in their absence the Operational Manager

Main function of the job:

· Be responsible for the day to day management oversight of young people’s case files

· To deputise for the operational manager during their absence, while positively supporting the decisions made by the management team

· To maintain support and management skills at a current level and undertake training and development as may from time to time be required to maintain the currency of practice

· To be the first point of contact for staff who are concerned about a young person

· To give staff advice on safeguarding policy and procedures ensuring they are followed and recorded appropriately

Responsible for: Key workers / Support staff

Main duties (not in any order of priority):

· Deputise for the operational manager during their absence, following agreed policies, procedures and management techniques at all times

· Create and uphold a positive and inclusive management structure

· Share in the development of Youth Hubz strategic plans

· Minimise legal risks

· Participate in the maintenance of Youth Hubz information management systems

· Act within Youth Hubz budget and work within a cost-effective manner

· Co-operate with the induction of all new employees

· Promote the effective resolution of team conflicts

· Support the development and maintenance of performance and excellence

· To work late evenings, weekends, bank holidays

· To ensure young people participate in the shaping of the service

· To contribute to the staff’s development by facilitating appropriate training opportunities and the dissemination of good practice

· To organise and lead staff meetings on a regular basis to ensure effective communication and the smooth running of the service

· To explore partnerships and develop them to improve outcomes for young people

· To co-ordinate and implement publicity and marketing programmes for their area of responsibility

· To ensure the effective performance management of staff to the required standards through appropriate assessments of practice

· Manage relationships to ensure effective working with all appropriate services and partners

· To be contactable by telephone and deal with out of hours emergencies

· To use a restorative practice approach as and overarching ethos

· To be aware and adhere to Youth Hubz Health & Safety Policy being responsible for your own Health & Safety whilst at work and that of your colleagues and service users

· To work within all relevant policies and procedures and systems established to support Youth Hubz Equal Opportunities Policies.

· Any other duties commensurate with this post.

Economic conditions

Annual leave: 28 days annual leave

Hours: 37 hours per week to be worked in accordance to service need

Training

Youth Hubz has a positive commitment to the training and development of employees in all areas of its activities. Similarly, employees are expected to adopt a positive attitude to any training provided and also to their own personal development.

Relationships

The post holder will maintain effective relationships with staff at all levels and with external agencies and the general public.

Work to develop effective employee / employer relationships

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent.
  • Registration with the HCPC.
  • Ability to travel between locations.
  • Significant experience in the field of Social Care.
  • Direct experience of working in a relevant team/service to the role.
  • Prior experience of coaching/ mentoring/co-working/supervision
  • Management qualification
