Job Description

Home based role (with some travel). You will be leading safeguarding, wellbeing and pastoral care across multiple locations supporting teachers and learners with learning disabilities or autism.

This national charity support young people (15 plus typically) to gain the skills needed to gain employment through their classroom-based learning and work experience placements.  This is a relatively new role, the current person has been in the post 18 months and made a great impact but is going on mat leave at the end of Jan, so ideally, we are looking at interviews this side of Christmas, so you get a nice handover period in January.

The role is for 12 months and is a great opportunity for the right person.  Whilst it is a home-based role, you would be expected to travel to the delivery locations on average 3 days a week for the first 4 weeks of term, then after this its typically one day a week on average.  The locations are London (Islington, Waltham Forest, Barnet, and Kingston), Northampton, Bradford, Telford, Staffordshire, Birmingham, and Worcester.  A car driver is not essential though.  Typical tasks include:

  • Present to learners around wellbeing (covering areas such as physical activity, mental health, self harm, sexual abuse)
  • Provide ad-hoc one-to-one sessions as needed with learners
  • Deliver training to delivery staff around safeguarding, managing challenging behaviour or suicidal behaviour

Please apply via this advert – everyone gets a response.  You must have experience of dealing with safeguarding issues, Prevent and “keeping children safe in education”.  You might have previously worked as a teacher, safeguarding officer, pastoral support worker or safeguarding lead.

Feel free to call the office and speak to James if you would like to talk to someone (number on the Red 5 People website).
