Job Description

About the job

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Leicester’s Safeguarding Board Office team as one of three Safeguarding Board Officers, supporting the effective running of the city’s Safeguarding Children Partnership (SCP) and Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB).

Your role is essential to ensuring that these multi-agency partnerships run smoothly and meet their statutory responsibilities, including undertaking safeguarding adults reviews and local child safeguarding practice reviews (formerly known as serious case reviews).

We are a small, friendly, highly motivated team dedicated to supporting the functions of the Safeguarding Children Partnership and Safeguarding Adults Board.

Your role

As Safeguarding Board Officer your role will be varied and include drafting reports, coordinating and analysing information, ensuring priorities are being met by the subgroups of the partnerships, co-leading on review processes from initial notification through to publication, supporting the development of multi-agency safeguarding policies and procedures across the city, and ensuring that learning from reviews and audits are shared across the partnerships. You’ll build positive relationships and facilitate effective multi-agency working.

The Safeguarding Board Office team consists of three Safeguarding Board Officers working across the Safeguarding Children Partnership and Safeguarding Adults Board, an Engagement Officer (supporting the SAB), a Development Officer and Training Manager (leading on child safeguarding training for the SCP), all supported by two Administrator posts and the Safeguarding Board Manager.

Normally based at Leicester Town Hall, the majority of the Board Office team is currently working from home, attending small individual and large multi-agency meetings daily via MS Teams. Safeguarding training and awareness-raising is also currently being run via MS Teams, but would normally be facilitated in person at various locations across the city.

On a day to day basis you’ll be liaising with other members of the Safeguarding Board Office team, our counterparts in Leicestershire and Rutland, strategic partners (including senior members of the Local Authority, Clinical Commissioning Group and the Police), and independent contractors such as review authors and independent chairs/advisors. Importantly, you’ll also be a consistent and reassuring contact for individuals at the heart of our reviews and/or their family members, keeping them up to date with progress.

What you’ll need

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organised, with excellent administrative, report-writing, analytical, communication and inter-personal skills.

You’ll need to be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate resilience in the face of highly sensitive and often distressing material. Previous experience of multi-agency working will be beneficial to the role, as will detailed knowledge and understanding of at least one of the agencies within our multi-agency partnerships (i.e. Police, Local Authority, or Health).

Using your excellent communication skills, you’ll engage and work with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders, across the strategic partnerships. Using your excellent IT skills, you’ll be able to prepare formal reports, briefings, updates, and presentations to support statutory responsibilities, assurance work, policy work and the delivery of the Business Plans.
