Hours – Full-Time, Permanent 37 hours per week

The role
Working in partnership with the Local Authority, Action for Children’s residential service in Ormiston East Lothian provides outcome driven support for two young people.
We are looking for Residential Workers who will support our Young People. You will use an evidence and theory-based approach of positive behaviour to support our young people and help them thrive. The service will provide each young person with the opportunity to flourish, learn and for them to be at the driver’s seat of their own decision making.
You will make a difference by:
– Having a good understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable, care experienced young people.
-Contributing to care plans and risk assessments.
-Having good communication skills and the ability to engage well with both young people, colleagues and other professionals.
-Being a creative thinker and having a solution focused approach.
-Using your skills, knowledge and experience to meet the needs of young people.
You will need:
-Previous experience of working in a residential setting (desirable but not essential).
-SVQ Level 3 in children and young people or equivalent.
-To be able to effectively and safely support children and young people with disabilities and challenging behaviour.
-Good knowledge of IT and ability to work confidently using it.
-Good knowledge of Safeguarding, and keeping young people safe.
-SSSC registration or in the process of registering.
