Job Description

An exciting position has become available for a full-time Property Services Keyworker based in the East Midlands. The successful candidate will earn salary of £18,926 progressing to £19,926 after 12 months on satisfactory completion of a 9-month probationary period assessment. A further increase after a further 1 year of service to £21,041.

The ideal candidate will be based in Derby and will have a good knowledge of the town and its communities. We are looking for someone with an understanding of the issue’s asylum seekers face, experience of working with vulnerable people. Day to day the work will include helping people to move into and manage their accommodation, connecting them with local services and inspecting properties. Due to the nature of the asylum process the role also demands a substantial amount of flexibility.

A full UK driver’s licence is required.

Offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory criminal record check and references.

Role Requirements

  • Experience of providing support to vulnerable people in a housing environment.
  • Good understanding of challenges ethnic minorities may face.
  • Understanding of immigration regulations and the asylum-seeking process (Desirable).
  • Understanding of Child Protection legislation in the UK
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in accommodation
  • No criminal records
  • Full British Clean Driving License
  • Satisfy Immigration and rights to work in the UK.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist asylum Seekers move in to dispersed accommodation throughout the Midlands provided by the company
  • Induct tenant in to accommodation. Explaining House rules and terms of occupancy agreement.
  • Assist tenants with GP registration in their local area. Offer support with any urgent health care needs by contacting relevant local services.
  • Provide tenant with details of local service that offer help and support to Asylum seekers.
  • Provide details of local education providers including English classes.
  • Ensure tenants have access to correct cash funds.
  • Support clients to understand their rights and responsibilities under their accommodation arrangements.
  • Carry out regular visits (twice Monthly) to ensure the accommodation is good general repair.
  • Carry out low level maintenance tasks such cleaning, decorating, changing light bulbs etc
  • Report other maintenance issues within accommodation.
  • Ensure visits and events are properly recorded (and signed where necessary) and copied to relevant officers in the organisation.
  • Build links with external organisations providing services to asylum seekers and refugees to maintain constructive working relations so that clients’ needs are met.
  • Serve Tenants with NTQ when the accommodation arrangements come to an end. Assist the tenants to find alternative accommodation with local authority or privet rented.
  • Close cases accordingly with service delivery procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions or activities as required.
  • Participate in team meetings and supervision as required.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required to further the aims of the company.
