National Safeguarding Lead

Hybrid – Epsom | Central Operations | Permanent | Full Time

Competitive salary, depending on experience

As a National Safeguarding Lead you’ll report to our Central Operations Director, and will play a lead role in the delivery of the Safeguarding Agenda across the Charity. You’ll act as the professional expert in all matters pertaining to Safeguarding Adults and Child/Young Persons and advise the Charity on its statutory duties for safeguarding, as stipulated in primary legislation, government strategy and national, regional and local guidance.

The National Safeguarding Lead will oversee the management of safeguarding across the charity and facilitate full compliance with all relevant legislation e.g. Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and contractual requirements in order to ensure the Charity provides high-quality services that safeguard its beneficiaries and wider community.

As our National Safeguarding Lead you will:

  • Provide expert advice, based on recognised best practice, with regard to the identification and management of safeguarding which facilitates quality and service excellence.
  • Demonstrate highly-specialist knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding policy, procedures, and evidence-based guidance
  • Provide Local Safeguarding Child, Young Person and Adult Boards (LSABs/LSCBs) with relevant related information and to speak on behalf of the Charity with the necessary level of authority.
  • Take full accountability for safeguarding reporting, developing, and presenting reports to relevant committees, Quality Board, and external regulators on activity and progress relating to Safeguarding issues (incl. Charity’s Annual Safeguarding Report).
  • Deliver safeguarding training

 

To succeed as our National Safeguarding Lead you will:

  • Be a Safeguarding professional – working knowledge of safeguarding regulation and practices
  • Have significant experience of working in an environment where safeguarding is a regulatory requirement e.g. Clinical practice, Education, Childcare
  • Demonstrate recent experience of providing national safeguarding advice across multiple service lines
  • Have experience of leading strategy and policy development
