Money Skills Adviser

Salary: Full time – 35 hours per week

£25K+ 5% Contributory Pension

30 days annual leave + 15 days public holidays

Based in our Glasgow Office with some hybrid working.

We wish to recruit a Project Officer to join our busy Money Skills Team where you can truly make a difference to people’s lives while working in a friendly supportive atmosphere.

We are looking for a multilingual Money advisor with proven Welfare Rights knowledge to contribute to the provision of high-quality money advice, advocacy and to run financial skills workshops for our target BME communities. You will work as part of the Money Skills Team which strives for financial inclusion and wider support of people from BME and Refugee communities within Glasgow.

The postholder will ensure referrals are managed and progressed and will work in collaboration with stakeholders to provide clients with budgeting support, energy advice, benefits advice and debt advice. An overall aim of the role will be to maximise income through benefit claims, minimise rent arrears and utility debt and provide financial stability to households assisted. You will have previous experience of giving advice in relation to social security benefits and assisting with claims to benefits. Developing an understanding to each clients’ needs, you will aid them face to face, over the phone or via digital channels using sensitive listening and questioning skills to discover the information. You will assess the appropriate level of service, taking into consideration the resources, complexity and the client’s ability to take the next step themselves, referring and signposting them to services that will meet their needs. You will maintain accurate records of client interactions on case management systems and record outcomes on each case. We are looking for someone who is warm, positive, creative and accountable with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with clients, families, staff and partner agencies.
